Background

Everything began during the meeting of some Romaiï, mainly from Geneva and Lausanne, connected by their culture and the desire to reconnect and to discuss around a glass of Raki and dishes from the famous "politiki kouzina". Very soon, discussions over the creation of an association started, which materialized only this year, following the initiative of Father Georges Tsetsis, Georges Lemopoulos and Nicolaos Anagnostopoulos and finally the Association of the Greeks of Constantinople in Switzerland (AGCOS) was born.

The initial General assembly took place in Geneva on January 31st, 2013 in the presence of 31 founder members from Bern, Geneva, Vaud and Zürich. During this assembly, the participation of our association to the Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitains (EFC) was decided. The federation, as well as the association, has for objectives to sensitise Constantinopolitains, and those from Imvros and Tenedos, in order to preserve their identity and to defend their cause.

Our aim is to reach out to as many of our compatriots all around Switzerland as possible via the web.

We hope that many of you will respond to our invitation and we look forward meeting you soon.
